"Happy Hearts" - A modern folk art, patchwork and appliqué wall hanging featuring twelve hearts set against eccentric, patched rectangles in this colourful textile wall art.

Availability: only one available. This item is now on sale!

Making the piece:-

After the fabrics are selected, the piecing is carried out with machine sewing; the appliqué of the heart shapes is hand sewn. The wall hanging is layered with wadding and a backing piece, then hand quilted, before a final binding in gingham finishes the outer edge. On the reverse, a hanging sleeve has been added and comes with a strip of wood for hanging from your own two nails or hooks. (Please note that the wooden hanging strip is not the one shown in the photos, it is cut to be slightly shorter than the width of the wall hanging, so does not show when the piece is on the wall.)

The wall hanging measures approximately:-

26 & 1/2 inches high by 18 & 1/4 inches wide.

(67 cm high by 46.5cm wide.)

[Please note that the props shown in one photograph are not included with the wall hanging.]

Care Advice:-

The piece will be sent rolled or folded and may require a press with a warm iron to flatten it before hanging.

Spot cleaning or gentle hand wash in warm water recommended. Dry flat and warm iron.

Inspiration: My aim in making this piece was to achieve a 'scrappy', improvised, joyful look, using vibrant shades from many small pieces of fabric. The fabrics used include a mixture of new and re-purposed materials in a variety of fabric types: mainly cotton, with some mixed fibre fabrics, and glass beads. ***Please note that reused fabrics may have imperfections from their previous life, such as small marks, slubs or wear.***
