Flowers in a Vase - patchwork and felt appliqué wall hanging
"Flowers in a Vase"
This is a unique wall hanging: there is only one available.
A colourful, small wall hanging, made using patchwork and machine appliqué, with a small amount of hand quilting. It shows a vase of naif-style flowers with spiral leaves, set against an abstract checked background of white, pink and pale green squares.
The piece has a hanging sleeve on the reverse, and comes complete with a hanging dowel (you just need to suspend this from your own hooks, nails and/or string, for example).
As is usual with my work, this piece includes some re-purposed textiles.
The textile art picture measures approximately:-
37.8 cm (14 3/4 inches) wide x 37.2 cm (14 5/8 inches) high
Please note that the piece may need a press on the reverse with a cool iron on arrival. It is currently stored with lavender, so may retain a slight scent of that flower.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Inspiration: This piece was a Solway Quilters' challenge, which involved being given a 'mystery' nine patch from another group member, that we had to transform into a small wall hanging. The textile has been exhibited at the 'Hanging By A Thread' exhibition at The Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries and in one other venue. It was challenging to work with a colour palette outside my usual choices, but I enjoyed it.
